Stikkan ® is a unique and very clever cast iron hand tool invented in Norway in 1982, and has been manufactured in Sweden since.
All South Africans love a good fire, getting one started quickly for a braai or a potjie to feed the hungry crowd is made simpler, faster and easier with the kindling made with Stikkan ®. It’s ease of use, quality feel and look all make starting a fire a joy and pleasure. The first time we used Stikkan ® we immediately knew that it will be a must have item for any proud South African homeowner.
The BAROCOOK range – invented in Korea – allows you to keep your food chilled in a liquid and airtight container, when you are ready for a hot meal you can conveniently cook your food in the same container. All without a flame!
The secret is the single use BAROPACKs that use an exothermic reaction of water and quick lime to achieve an average cooking time of 25-35 minutes and temperature of 95° Celsius (depending on the container and pack type).
There are also three heating pack types, 10g (for 37° baby bottle and food warming), 20g (for smaller containers) and 50g (for large containers and pressure cooker). The heating packs are also non-toxic (but not to be eaten) and bio-degradable (when disposed of responsibly).
Light from just salt and water!? No, its not magic. It’s SCIENCE!
The Mizuison Lamp – designed by Maxell in Japan (known for their Magnetic Tapes and Long Lasting Dry-Cell Batteries) gets its power from the chemical reaction of salt, water and a long lasting replaceable magnesium anode.
While you may still be in disbelief, know that this lamp really does not need (or have) any batteries. It is because of this that it is a very handy little device to have around.
Filled to the recommended proportions of Sodium Chloride and H20, it will put out 2000 lux of light for up to 80 hours. It I can even use sea water, however with a lower lasting time – not that you’ll run out of sea water if its your closest water & salt source!
Whether it’s to help get through those dark load shedding nights or just to take with on a camping or fishing trip (imagine how ridiculously useful it would be out out at sea) this is the lantern we all need to have at least one of.
